SunDrive (“we”, “us”, “our”) is operated by an Australian business. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and protect your personal information when you use the SunDrive iOS application and website (sundrive.app).

We are committed to complying with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs).

2. Information We Collect

2.1 Account Information

When you create a SunDrive account, we collect:

• Email address (via email/password registration)
• Name or display name
• Authentication tokens from Apple and Google sign-in

We do not receive or store your Apple ID or Google password. Sign-in is handled via OAuth 2.0 through those providers.

2.2 Location Data

SunDrive uses your device’s location services (CoreLocation) to show nearby routes, provide turn-by-turn navigation, and record your route when you choose to create and share a new drive. Location data is only collected when the app is in active use. We do not collect location data in the background unless you have explicitly enabled route recording.

2.3 User-Generated Content

When you create routes, ratings, reviews, or reports, we collect the content you submit, including route GPS data, text descriptions, photos, and ratings.

2.4 Vehicle Information

You may optionally add your vehicle type (car, motorbike, 4WD, etc.) to your profile for personalised route recommendations.

2.5 Usage Data

We automatically collect certain technical information including device type, iOS version, app version, app usage events, crash reports, and IP address.

3. How We Use Your Information

We use your information to:

• Provide, maintain, and improve the SunDrive app and services
• Create and manage your user account
• Enable route discovery, navigation, and sharing features
• Facilitate community features including clubs and route ratings
• Send service notifications (you can opt out)
• Detect and prevent fraud, abuse, and safety issues
• Comply with legal obligations

We do not sell your personal information to third parties.

4. Sharing Your Information

4.1 Service Providers

We use the following third-party services to operate SunDrive:

• Supabase — database and authentication infrastructure
• Apple — App Store distribution and Apple Sign-In
• Google — Google Sign-In
• Vercel — website hosting

All service providers are contractually required to protect your information and use it only to provide their services to us.

4.2 Other Users

Content you choose to make public (routes, ratings, profile information) is visible to other SunDrive users. Your precise location is never shared with other users in real time.

4.3 Legal Requirements

We may disclose your information if required by Australian law, court order, or to protect the safety of our users or the public.

5. Data Storage and Security

Your data is stored on Supabase infrastructure with encryption in transit (TLS) and at rest. We retain your account data for as long as your account is active. You may request deletion of your data at any time (see Section 6).

6. Your Rights

Under the Privacy Act 1988 and the APPs, you have the right to:

• Access the personal information we hold about you
• Request correction of inaccurate information
• Request deletion of your account and associated data
• Opt out of direct marketing communications
• Lodge a complaint with the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) at oaic.gov.au

7. Children’s Privacy

SunDrive is not intended for children under 13 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

8. Cookies and Tracking

Our website (sundrive.app) uses cookies for basic analytics and to remember your preferences. The iOS app does not use browser cookies.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes via the app or by email. Continued use of SunDrive after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
